About Electric Radiators

Electric radiators are an energy efficient method to heating your home, which are often utilised when a property has no access to a gas supply. Electric wall heaters are particularly easy to install because they only require a power outlet to work. The use of a thermodynamic fluid inside the radiator creates much less maintenance than traditional water-filled radiators; and there is no need to ever ‘bleed’ an electric heater. Each electric heater is fitted with a thermostat, meaning the user can control the amount of power input needed to maintain the desired temperature within a room.

Similar to radiators within a gas central heating system, electric radiators work through convection; they are filled with a thermodynamic fluid such as oil, which transfers into heat energy when electricity passes through it. The hot thermodynamic fluids then radiate warmth to the radiator surface, and the air surrounding the heater, warming your home.

In regards to thermal comfort, an electric radiator is as effective as gas central heating, but as a heating system, the use of electric heaters and radiators are not cheap to run. It is estimated that the running costs of electric heaters can be priced at up to three and a half times more expensive than gas boilers and standard radiators. However, whilst an ineffective option for cost, electric heater and radiator solutions certainly have their place.
